Online Dating Service and Long-term Relationship Essay In the last couple of weeks, eHarmony, a dating website that promises to help you find a long-term relationship for a relatively modest monthly subscription fee, has been offering a free trial: 10 days of free communication. This marketing campaign is designed to attract new customers and convert some of the existing ones to become paying members (currently it claims more than 20 million registered users). This seems like a reasonable growth strategy: more paying customers will help eHarmony grow and improve its bottom line. As with any platform business, eHarmony relies on having lots of people in its database. Having more people to choose from makes it more likely that the site will find a good match. Clearly, offering a free trial period is a good way to attract more people to the site. But in fact, for reasons my colleague Misiek Piskorski and I study (pdf), it may not be good for eHarmonys business. eHarmony is not your usual online dating site. Unlike Match. com or OkCupid, users do not get to browse tons of profiles to see if there is someone they might like. Instead, eHarmony does the choosing for you, sending you a limited number of compatible matches — candidates the sites proprietary algorithm thinks will make a good match. The company also differs because it aims at people who are looking for long-term relationship or even marriage, not those who look for casual dating. To successfully match people who are looking for a long-term relationship, eHarmony needs not just a lot of people in their database, it also needs people who are ready for a long-term relationship. This seems self-evident, but cluttering up the site with those looking for something else will increase the noise-to-signal ration and make matching harder. In its everyday business, eHarmony does an excellent job by discouraging potential customers who may not be so serious about dating. They ask potential members to complete a very long questionnaire of more than 250 questions. And if the answers suggest that you are not serious enough, they reject you. eHarmony also charges more than Match. com — up to a 25 percent premium. As a result, only people who really care about establishing a long-term relationship will end up at the site. If the value youre offering your customers rests on exclusive membership of similarly minded relationship seekers, what happens if you make it easy for others to get in for a while? You might get a lot of people who dont care that much about a serious relationship, or who are looking for a different product, like a quick adventure. When such people roam around your site, they create a negative externality for your core members, who may discover that its more difficult to find a long-term relationship — the very service they had paid a premium to get. In a nutshell, when you lower the barriers to entry, you threaten your core value proposition to your most valuable customers. So promotion strategies that work well for Match. com or other platforms — like job-hunting sites — may be dangerous for eHarmony, as they may unintentionally undermine the sites core value proposition. Fortunately, eHarmony didnt really get it wrong. It has instituted a number of safeguards that prevent not-so-serious people from getting on the site even during the free trial. People who want to try the site for 10 days still need to complete the long questionnaire, and may still be rejected if their answers suggest they are not serious enough. Only after jumping this major hurdle can the potential members enjoy the free trial. And if they are not serious enough to pay the membership fee after the 10th day, they will exit the pool of potential matches. This tension between a seemingly natural marketing tactic and a companys value proposition may not be obvious, but it does affect many companies that operate platforms similar to that of eHarmony. Increasing the size of your tent isnt always in your companys best interest. It pays to ask, Who is your customer and what product do they want from you?

There a many definitions of masculinity and those definitions are heavily influenced by culture, environment, media, and the child’s parents. When young men start to reach their sexual maturity, they have to create their own definition of what it is to be a man. The idea of masculinity creates a lot of questions, because there is no resource that will give a young male the answer. Due to this, young males learn what it is to be a man from a grab bag of possibilities. Eventually, the young male will have accumulated traits, appearances, behavior, and so on that defines what it is to be a man. With a new sense of self, the young male transforms into his idea of masculinity. In the Maltase Flacon, masculinity is defined through the actions of Sam Spade whom demonstrates the masculine principals of making his achievement of alpha male status a top priority, aggressive behavior, avoiding being feminine, homophobic, and restriction of his emotions (Meek) through his interaction with several characters throughout the film. Through out the film, Sam Spade has a constant need to prove to himself and other people around him that he is an alpha male. This need is triggered when Sam Spade feels intimidated or challenge by another male. Sam Spade’s alpha male status is challenged when he is taken at gunpoint by Wilmer Cook to see Kasper Gutman. Sam quickly rises to the challenge and manages to take Wilmer’s guns away from him (Falcon). Considering that the gun is a phallic symbol, one could interpret that when Sam took away Wilmer’s guns he symbolically took away Wilmer’s masculinity as punishment for challenging his alpha male status. Sam’s action of emasculating Wilmer inflates his ego and reinforces his masculinity though his achievem... ...ith several characters throughout the film. This particular definition of what it is to be a man is presented to the public in the form of media. It is possible that this film could serve as a guide for how young men of the past, present, or even future should behave in order to be considered a man. In this film, the femme fatale sexuality is censored, but the ideals that acting violently towards people who are homosexual, constantly fulfilling a need to achieve dominance through aggressive and violence behavior is the cultural norm of what it is to be a man. She’s a Dreamer – Creative Writing

I glanced over my shoulder and felt a presence lurking, looming behind me. I sniffed and for that one moment my worries flew away. Candy floss. It smelt of a sweet, soft, sugary treat that my sisters and I only received on special occasions. I heard a swear word and turned around to find a group of ‘tough' boys behind me, they were speaking in low, deep, gruff voices. I listened in, making sure I wasn't being too obvious. They were chatting about the new roller coaster here at the theme park. The terrifying ride was called The Evaporator; it lasted only seconds but it went up, down, upside down and all around. I glanced up noticing the bloody red sign hovering above a crowd of innocent children and teenagers with a few adults among them. Should I risk going on a roller coaster for the first time in my life, without my mother by my side or should the public around me, mostly consisting of my high school peers, witness me going on the babyish rides with my sisters? I shook my head at the thoughts trekking through my mind and through the corner of my right eye saw my little sister, Lucy almost reading my mind and shaking her head and telling me â€Å"No, No. † But something was telling me the opposite â€Å"Yes, Yes. I nodded my head without any hesitation and I saw the upset on her face. She stomped her feet in protest and I dropped her clutching hand from mine. She glanced at me, her older sister not doing as the little one says, and teardrops dribbled down her cheeks falling of the end of her chin. I had to make this accomplishment, for me. If I had got to the age of 50 and still not boarded a roller coaster carriage then I would be so disappointed and angry with myself. My older sister smiled, a smile aimed in my direction and wiped little Lucy's eye with a rough, green paper towel she had in her rucksack. I smiled back but it soon disappeared. I stepped under the sign and took a deep breath as I joined the queue. As we were herded forward like cattle I thought about my life and what point in life I was at. I glanced over my shoulder again and it seemed my life was passing by. I was the rollercoaster. I was going up, down and all around. I saw the birth of my sister, Lucy, then the birth of my youngest sibling, Emily, the divorce of my parents and finally, most recently my father starting his sentence in prison. I blinked my delicate, beautiful blue eyes and I came out of my†¦ daydream. A bloke directly behind me croaked â€Å"What are you staring at? † I turned back around, ignoring the man's remark. As we were travelling toward the track, I clenched my fist and squeezed my eyes shut, for reasons unknown. I took a deep breath and was spinning, spinning, spinning in circles. I heard crashes, which startled me enough for me to come out of my trance. The crashes had happened both in my spell and in reality. The ‘tough' boys I was eavesdropping on earlier were denting the sign advertising the rollercoaster. My focus was drawn to the word evaporator, the word that had remained undented. It was to do with the word evaporate, I knew that, but I was puzzled at the unusualness of the name. There was just a large group of seven in front of me, and then it was my turn I pondered, as I shuffled forward, nearly suffocating the male in front. They were all being loaded on, three per aisle, as I noticed one girl, roughly three years younger than me, gesture for me to come and sit on a spare seat on her aisle. I shook my head, delaying my turn on The Evaporator. But as I did so, I instantly changed my mind, thinking it was better to get it over and done with. But my reaction was too late. A member of staff was already ushering for any two's. I had staggered my turn for just a few more minutes. The carriage noisily started, sped up and disappeared round the corner. I heard screams of happiness and then they were gone. It was finally my turn as a carriage juttered to a halt and a mixed crowd departed, smiled and laughed to each other as they were shown to the photo pick up point. I was piled on with everybody else but when we all had boarded there were still two empty seats in my aisle. â€Å"Any two's, any two's† was starting to get annoying. A large man and his girlfriend I assume squeezed past the threes, fours, fives and sixes. They were looking very smug and ecstatic about skipping part of the queue. The large man who I christened ‘the elephant' instantly plumped himself down next to me, nudging me as he struggled to fit. â€Å"Are you excited girl, are you, girl, girl, are you, are you? † It took a lot of effort but I managed to pull a fake smile and blocked out the distant memory of dad shouting â€Å"Girls! † at my sisters and I. The elephant gave a huge grin and I wasn't too happy at the smell of his breath hitting my face every time the wind blowed. We jerked slowly forward and I grabbed the harness in fear, he noticed my anxiety and squeezed my leg in a flirty way. I screamed inside at the thought of this maybe 30-year old man squeezing a 13-year-olds leg. His girlfriend was even there. He apologised though I knew he didn't mean it. After we had sped up and were experiencing the ups, downs, upside downs and all arounds I turned to my right to look at him hoping the wind wasn't in my direction or his mouth was near me. But he had miraculously disappeared. I blinked thinking my mind was playing tricks on me. But †¦ no. He must have†¦ Thoughts rushed through my head and the only logical one was he'd FALLEN out. But thinking hard enough about it even that wasn't logical. How would he have fallen out? And wouldn't I have heard something? Was he dead? Or was I dead? Spooky thoughts were taking over my mind. I turned to my right, past the empty seat and the elephant's girlfriend looked at me. She didn't see the emptiness of our aisle to start with but then the empty seat caught her eye. I will never forget the look on that lady's face. It was horrific. Horror and fear must have been rushing through her at 1000 miles per hour at least. The things in the background were completely blanked out as I felt one hundred different emotions for this lady. I'd never felt that way, not even when my father had left me. I tried focusing on a different thought, a happy thought, so I turned round trying to see the three behind us. I strained my neck and was in agony when I finally saw the one, not three bodies in the aisle behind. I blinked. My eyes needed a check up; they were seeing weird, freaky, abnormal things. But however many times I blinked there was still the sight of a young innocent girl crying. Tears pouring, rushing down her face. I knew that there was someone at least one more person on that aisle. It was a man, maybe her dad, I thought as the ride progressed. I shut my eyes and wished that that ride would end immediately. The roller coaster drew to an end and I had done it, without my mother by my side. This was a wonderful accomplishment and how my sister would be proud. Little Lucy would be so joyful and pleased her favourite sister was back. Mel, oh how Mel would be so proud for many reasons. She would be tearful and amazed. Emily, Emily would see no difference in the world, just that everyone was happy. When a toddler's family is happy they are happy. Is that right? I think I read it in a book once. As the carriage was getting slower and slower a couple of questions came to my attention. I'd never missed dad, why hadn't I? Mel and little Lucy had, but why not me? I suppose there was an answer to one of the questions. Melanie, being the oldest at 15 would have the clearest and most happy memories of dad. She'd never thought bad thoughts or if she had then she'd never shown them. She was good at covering her emotions and at the right time and the right place; she was good at showing her emotions. But little Lucy she had only been 4 at the time, but I suppose at four you do remember. Those four years of little Lucy's life had probably been the worst. Full of negative memories of dad, times without a good father figure and long distances between them. It's not good that what Lucy remembers is mostly bad or little about dad – she will immediately hate dad or not recognise him if she ever sees him again. That would be awful. I am pleased I have at least some positive memories. I stepped out the carriage and grabbed my bag not noticing how freakily quiet the area was. I ran to the burger bar where Mel had told me they'd be. I looked around squinting and scanning the area. The vision of them not being there will be forever with me. No one was about. I walked up to the kiosk planning to ask a member of staff if they'd seen my sisters. But there was no member of staff. I was scared; where was everyone, there was no one about and I was upset; why would my sisters leave me with no explanation? I looked and looked for maybe three hours not seeing one person anywhere. I hadn't been brave enough to go and look outside the park so I'd completely and purposely not walked past the gates. As I was walking I felt a sharp, ear piercing screaming coming from not a person but from inside me. I'd never felt a similar sensation before. The screaming was of fear and there was a voice; a high toned voice that was saying â€Å"There's something freaky, something real freaky going on here. † As I tried to block out the piercing sound I had a terrifying, terrific, torturing thought that stunned me. Why would I think of such a thing? But that thought went away – thank goodness! – And I thought happier and more realistic thoughts from that point on. Maybe, I'd just been queuing for hours and the park had shut, my sisters would be waiting just outside the gates for me. I wandered the short distance towards the park gates and was surprised to see the gates wide open. I shrugged to myself and nervously walked through the gates not taking into account the sign that said ‘Saturdays Open 24 hours'. The screaming of fear inside me had started yet again. As I turned my head, on the look out, my eyes swivelled trying to see through the darkness of that winter Saturday afternoon and the darkness and gloominess of the situation. I spotted an empty bench, which I persuaded myself to sit on. After I had sat down I had a sudden rush of tiredness and as it got the better of me my head hit the cold, hard, wet, brown surface. I had one clear and one more vivid dream. One I understood yet the other was very irregular. Firstly it was my dad; he was in his favourite outfit holding hands with Lucy and Melanie. Emily was tiredly bumping on his back as he walked towards me. Every one of them had a finger or hand outstretched, stretched in my direction. Each and every one of them was saying my name, over and over. The girls were wearing pyjamas and they were all the age they were when dad went. I was walking towards them but they were getting further away. It wasn't right. It was upsetting, distressing and brought back memories. Bad memories. No one was smiling anymore. As I came out of that horrible dream, another started almost immediately. I was on the same bench but I was sitting bolt upright and I was kind of like a robot. A bus came and it was full. Some of the people on the bus I recognised from the theme park like the â€Å"elephant† from earlier and the young girls dad who was on the carriage behind me. Finally I saw my sisters, Emily, little Lucy and Mel. I suddenly opened my eyes, bringing the dream to an end. But it hadn't. The bus was still there, in front of my very eyes looking beautiful and shiny and not bus-like at all. I could still see some of the people I recognised from the theme park, the â€Å"elephant† from earlier was the young girls dad was Mel, little Lucy and Emily all smiling and gesturing for me to board the bus. I felt a sensation, almost an urge to get on that bus and I started moving quite quickly towards the bus. Just before I was ushered up the steps of the bus I caught a glimpse at where the bus was going and I was shocked to see it was going to â€Å"Heaven! † I'm now an angel in heaven along with my sisters. I still don't really know what happened that day, I came to the conclusion that we must have just collapsed and the entire roller coaster journey was my imagination. It's just a guess though. My mother is still alive and she's starting another family, but I know she misses us. She goes to our graves every other day and puts fresh flowers each time. My father is still in prison. He has another two years to go. My mother visited him for the first time with the bad news that we have passed away, three sisters died in one day. I couldn't bear look at his reactions, I could have easily. Angel's can float, can fly, can go anywhere they want and can see anyone they want, it's an easy life for an angel. My dad's reaction could have even been a happy one, who knows. Only mum. If I could have done two things differently before I died I would have said my goodbyes, even though I'm here in heaven with my sisters it's my other relatives and friends that I wish that I could have said goodbye too. I would have also died more peacefully and I a way that I knew what was happening. Like dying in your sleep. Like Nana did. Emily is 3 now, little Lucy whose not so little anymore, is 9 and finally Mel is 21. I'm 16 and boy, times flied! I'm having a wonderful time with my sisters. I've really got to know them again. Emily and little Lucy always tell me their dreams. That's the funny thing about heaven, you never forget, anything. Not even your dreams.

Who else is competing for this labor?What is the truly critical corporate information? Goals – Michelin has to fix tangible hiring targets. Proponents of affirmative action often say that you need a critical mass of designated minorities (e. G. In a university) to stimulate a natural influx of successful applications. This may be true with Michelin Aboriginal partnership. Michelin should therefore set specific hiring targets and commit to meeting them, even if this requires some reasonable rule bending. As we understand the dynamics of Michelin labor market, no qualified worker is being turned away: no one would be able to suggest that Aboriginals are â€Å"stealing Jobs†.

There's a lot of advice out there. So I've found the best data-driven information I could find to answer the question of how often to post on social media. I'll be referencing these sources throughout this post as a way to answer the posting frequency question for each specific social network: The social rules of Pinterest from  Ahalogy Research and tips compiled by  Buffer How often to post on social media by  Constant Contact Research and experience of optimum level of posting on social media from  DowSocial Industry benchmarks from  HubSpot The posting plan from  Localvox Expert Pinterest tips and data from  Michelle MacPhearson Suggested minimum and maxium number of times to post on social media per week from  Nulou Compiled research from  Quick Sprout Researched posting frequencies from  Mari Smith Insights from Neil Patel from Forbes General findings from Social Media Week Jay Baer's thoughts and insights from Convince And Convert Collected research from Adobe Each of the following sections will answer the posting frequency question, and includes  information on the best times to post on each network along with recommended amounts of social media content curation for each network. All of these suggestions are  based on deep research we've done for this post, along with these two: What 20 Studies Say About The Best Times To Post On Social Media How To Schedule Your Social Media Content Curation For Massive Growth Here we go. How Often Should A Business Post On Facebook? Answer: High: 2 posts per  day Low: 1 post per  day Recommended: 1 post per day Factor in the best times to post on Facebook: Post #1: 1–4 p.m. Factor in curation: Curate  or reshare a post every other day Ahalogy suggests that posting to Facebook no more than once a day is best or you'll start to feel spammy. Buffer says you can post to Facebook twice a day before likes and comments drop off. Constant Contact says to post on Facebook a minimum of three times per week while keeping your maximum posting frequency to 10 times per week. DowSocial says two Facebook posts per day  as a minimum works well for increasing your reach. They also suggest that sharing fewer posts and then promoting them is the best way they've seen to increase their engagement. Post to #Facebook once a day between 1–4 p.m.HubSpot's benchmarks suggest to post to Facebook a minimum of three times a week. They say to set your maximum number of Facebook posts to  10 times per week. LocalVox likes to post  once a day  to Facebook as a maximum while three times a week is their  suggested minimum. Nulou suggests  to post a minimum of three times a week to maintain your consistency while keeping your maximum number of Facebook posts to no more than 10 a week. Quick Sprout found that  Facebook pages with smaller amounts of followers should post about 16–30 times a month, or roughly  once every day or two. If you have a bigger fan base, Neil Patel suggests posting at least 31 times a month, which he says is about once or twice a day. Mari Smith recommends  5–6 Facebook posts per week. And some good advice: Skip weekdays if you have to, but not weekend days since Facebook users tend to be active on the weekends and in the evenings. Social Media Week recommends posting 5-10 times a week. That evens out to around one or two posts per business day. Adobe suggests posting 6-11 times per week. That's fairly consistent with what other studies suggest. Neil Patel makes another interesting point in his Forbes piece. If you have less than 10,000 followers, he says, you may want to post just once a day. That's because doubling your frequency may half your total clicks. Following his advice, wait until you have a bigger audience before increasing your schedule to twice a day. Simply log in to your Facebook Business Page, click on Insights, and select Posts. From here, you can check out your posts' performance individually to see  when your engagement increases or decreases depending on how frequently you post. How Many Tweets Per Day For Business? Answer: High: 51 tweets per day Low: 1 tweet per day Recommended: 15 tweets per day Factor in the best times to tweet: Tweet #1: 2 a.m. Tweet #2: 3 a.m. Tweet #3: 6 a.m. Tweet #4: 7 a.m. Tweet #5: 9 a.m. Tweet #6: 10 a.m. Tweet #7: 11 a.m. Tweet #8:  12 p.m. Tweet #9:  1 p.m. Tweet #10:  2 p.m. Tweet #11:  3 p.m. Tweet #12:  5 p.m. Tweet #13: 6 p.m. Tweet #14:  9 p.m. Tweet #15:  10 p.m. Factor in curation: Retweet or curate about seven tweets a day Buffer says three tweets a day is the most you should share before engagement starts to drop off. Constant Contact recommends a minimum of five tweets per day while suggesting there is no maximum. DowSocial suggests tweeting  a minimum of six tweets per  day, and to do it daily. Since Twitter is a fast-paced network, they say that tweeting  about once an hour during business hours is a good guideline, coupled with engagement tweets. How many tweets should you send in one day? Data says 15...HubSpot's data is broken down by industry, which is an interesting thought. So industry voided, HubSpot suggests tweeting a minimum of five tweets  per day, while suggesting there is no daily maximum. LocalVox recommends tweeting a maximum of five tweets per  day while maintaining a minimum of five tweets a week. Nulou says to  tweet at least five times a week with no maximum. Quick Sprout found that the most retweets happen within an hour after tweeting, so a higher daily frequency is best. Start by tweeting 5–20 times every day. Writing for Forbes, Neil Patel suggests tweet frequency should be tied to your goals. If you want maximum engagement per tweet, aim for 1-5 tweets per day. However, if you want more total responses to your tweets overall, 50 tweets or more are acceptable. Mari Smith's sweet spot is between 6–7 tweets per day on weekdays, and 3–4 tweets a day on weekends. Abobe recommends just 3 tweets per day. For larger enterprises and major brands, this less is more approach may be the way to go. Social Media Week offers up a similar suggestion, stating that 3-5 tweets per day is the sweet spot. When you know how many tweets you've shared on certain days, you can easily correlate your frequency to engagement. Just log in to Twitter Analytics, navigate to Tweets, and check out the bar graph of dates coupled with the number of tweets that went out on those dates below. Hover on a bar for any specific date, and you'll see the number of tweets you shared that day. How Many Times To Pin On Pinterest Per Day? Answer: High: 30 Pins per day Low: 3 Pins per day Recommended: 11 Pins per day Factor in the best times to Pin: Pin #1: 2 a.m. Pin #2: 3 a.m. Pin #3: 4 a.m. Pin #4: 1 p.m. Pin #5: 2 p.m. Pin #6: 3 p.m. Pin #7: 4 p.m. Pin #8: 8 p.m. Pin #9: 9 p.m. Pin #10: 10 p.m. Pin #11: 11 p.m. Factor in curation: Repin or curate at least five pieces of content from others per day Some suggest sharing 80% of your Pins  from other  sources that your own blog, which would be about nine Pins out of your 11 Ahalogy sees the best results with 15–30 Pins per day  when spread out throughout the day. Buffer says the top brands have experience a ton of growth by Pinning more frequently. The magic number? Pin five times a day on Pinterest. Constant Contact says Pinning at least five times a day is a good minimum, while Pinning 10 times per day should be the most you Pin. Pin to #Pinterest 11 times per day.DowSocial suggests  Pinning  a minimum of three times per day to Pinterest.  Sharing regularly, and curating others' content in your frequency mix, will help build engagement. Michelle MacPhearson says that 20–30 Pins per day is the sweet spot for visibility on Pinterest. Nulou recommends Pinning at least five times per day while keeping 10 Pins a day as your maximum. Quick Sprout agrees with Buffer, suggesting the best Pinning frequency is five Pins a day. Like Quick Sprout, Mari Smith suggests  the advice from Buffer to Pin five times per day. Adobe says "Pinterest users love lots of content," and recommends 4-10 Pins per day. Simply cruise to Pinterest Analytics and select the Profile option. Check out your Impressions to understand how your Pins performed on certain days of the week. You can also  export the data into a spreadsheet to read this like a true data nerd. How Often To Post On LinkedIn For Business? Answer: High: 1 post per day Low: 0  posts per day Recommended: 1 post per day Factor in the best times to post on LinkedIn: Post #1: 1o–11 a.m. Factor in curation: Curate or reshare a post every other day Buffer says 20 posts a month or posting once a day helps you reach 60% of your followers on LinkedIn. Constant Contact recommends posting on LinkedIn at least two times per week. Post a maximum of five times per week. DowSocial recommends sharing daily to LinkedIn, but doesn't provide a  solid number. They suggest that daily shares keep your followers in the loop, but not overwhelmed. Post to #LinkedIn once a day between 1o–11 a.m.HubSpot's benchmarks  recommend posting at least twice a week on LinkedIn, while your maximum posting frequency should be no more than five posts per  week. LocalVox says that once a day should be the most you share to LinkedIn. Post at least once a week to remain active. Nulou says to post to LinkedIn a minimum of two times a week to maintain consistency while five times a week should be your maximum number of posts. Quick Sprout cited LinkedIn's own recommendations for an ideal posting frequency of 20 times a month, which is about once every business day. You can use that as a starting point when you test your frequency to see how posting more or less impacts your engagement. Just navigate to  your Business Profile and select the Analytics tab to start your analysis. What Is The Ideal Google+ Posting Frequency? Answer: High: 3 posts per day Low: 0 posts per day Recommended: 2 posts per day Factor in the best times to post on Google+: Post #1: 9–11 a.m. Post #2 12–1 p.m. Factor in curation: Curate or reshare one post every day Buffer recommends posting consistently is the best approach for Google+, with three posts a day being the sweet spot. Constant Contact says to share on Google+ a minimum of three times a week while 10 times per week should be your maximum. DowSocial  likes to share to Google+ at least three times per day. Google+ shares can show in search results for your Google+ followers, so  sharing fresh content often can help  you get in front of more eyeballs. HubSpot found that  you should post to LinkedIn at least three times a week while posting 10 times should be your maximum. Post to #Google+ twice  a day at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.  LocalVox suggests posting once a day to Google+ should be your maximum. Post at least three times a week. Nulou says to share a minimum of three times per week on Google+. Keep your maximum to 10 times a week. Quick Sprout  agrees with Buffer that the ideal posting frequency for Google+ is three posts per day. Mari Smith agrees with Buffer and Quick Sprout's findings that posting three times per day to Google+ is the way to go. However, you can use Insights to gauge your most successful days and review the number of posts you shared on those days. Cruise to your Google+ Business Profile, and go to the Insights feature. Click on Posts, and you'll see a graph of the popular days, followed by even more specific data related to the posts you've shared. How Often To Post On Instagram? Answer: High: 3 posts per day Low: 1 posts per day Recommended: 1–2 posts per day Factor in the best times to post on Instagram: Post #1:  8–9 a.m. Post #2: 2 a.m. Factor in curation: Curate and repurpose posts only when necessary (quotes, stats, facts), and always give credit Buffer says that major brands share on Instagram on average 1.5 times a day, but not more, so that's also what they suggest you do. DowSocial says to post to Instagram a minimum of three times per day. Since images are super sharable, posting a little more often would be fine, too. Adobe says your Instagram posting frequency should be consistent with your goals. They say some brands succeed with as many as 10 photos per day. That might work well if you're sharing photos from an event, for example. And on Forbes, Neil Patel says "posting frequency is not all that important for your Instagram marketing." Instead, what you should focus on is consistency. Whether you post once or twenty times per day, do your best to maintain that same cadence. Post to #Instagram 1–2 times a day at 8–9 a.m. and 2 a.m.How To Tell If Your Posting Frequency On Instagram Is Successful Iconosquare has an Instagram Analytics feature that will help you understand when to post.  Part of its functionality lets you export your data into a spreadsheet where you can see the time you posted and the engagement each post received. As you test your  posting frequency, that could be helpful to gauge your  engagement by day while analyzing the number of times you posted on Instagram. Allen Here’s another thing that we, startups, have in common with indie authors: we often blog. Whether it’s as a way to establish ourselves (in time) as thought leaders in our industry, to drive traffic to a main website, or to keep customers engaged with us, we are big fans of what we use to call â€Å"content marketing†.This strategy is all the more attractive to authors that they are used to producing content for a living. However, â€Å"blogging† is not â€Å"writing†. It’s writing, engaging, promoting, socialising, etc. It is time-consuming and not necessarily something all authors are good at. I believe there are actually two schools of thought out there, one urging authors to have a blog, the other one stating that time spent on writing for the blog is time you could have spent writing â€Å"sell-able† material: books.So today we interview one of the most successful author bloggers out there: Anne R. Allen. And she offers some good p oints on how useful blogging can be, if done right!Reedsy: Hi Anne, thanks for granting us this interview. It is fair to say that you have, together with Ruth Harris, one of the best-performing author blogs out there. And you’ve written several posts on blogging, but we’d love to dive deeper into that. The â€Å"B† word is sometimes scary to authors: do you think blogging is a requirement for indie authors today? Or just a very useful option?Anne: Thanks. I do post extensively on blogging. I’m a big fan of â€Å"slow blogging†Ã¢â‚¬â€œthat is blogging once a week or less. I feel a working fiction writer doesn’t need to blog as often as somebody who is blogging to monetize, and most of the rules for blogging don’t apply to novelists.But fiction writers can definitely benefit from maintaining a blog.I’ve also written a book that discusses blogging in depth, along with the other skills I think benefit a 21st Century writer. The boo k is HOW TO BE A WRITER IN THE E-AGE, co-written with NYT bestseller, Catherine Ryan Hyde.I’m working on a short handbook specifically for new authors who want to learn to blog. It will launch with Kotu Beach Press later this year.In answer to your question: no, not every author should (or can) blog. Some authors aren’t cut out for writing little nonfiction essays every week. If you hate it, that will show, so don’t do it if it’s not fun for you.On the other hand, blogging is probably the most useful form of social media for the new author. For one thing, it’s the only kind of social media where you have most of the control. It gets you into search engines, helps you relate one-to-one with potential readers, and connects you with other authors and publishing professionals.Virtually all the people I work with in this industry I met through my blog. That includes two of my publishers, my first agent, my blog partner, and the wonderful fellow authors I work with for boxed sets and joint promotions.  Reedsy: I feel there is as big a proliferation of content in blogging as there is in books†¦ And the â€Å"big blogs† are the ones most trusted by the readers, so is it still possible nowadays for a starting blogger to get â€Å"big†, and how might they achieve that?Anne: Wonderful new blogs are getting my attention all the time. They don’t need to be â€Å"big† like ours to be useful to an author for networking and interacting with fans. All a blog needs to do is provide an author with a kind of â€Å"home† online where people can stop by and get to know you.Reedsy: What is the most common mistake you see authors making in their blogging activities?Anne: Oh, you probably shouldn’t get me started†¦let’s give my top 6:Not visiting other blogs. Social media is social, people, get out and meet the neighbors!Dark background, light font. Tough on the eyes and looks like an old M ySpace page. If you’re a writer, your text is all-important. Make it readable!Posting erratically. Don’t try to post every day. Choose a day of the week or month to post, and then do it regularly.Starting a bunch of blogs. Unless you write in wildly different genres, say Christian YA and Erotica, you don’t need more than one blog. You won’t be able to keep them up and readers will be confused and won’t be able to find you.Treating it like a personal journal. A blog is more like a magazine column. Be professional. Nobody cares what you had for lunch.Not putting your name on your blog! I can’t believe how many writers give their blog a cutesy title and don’t let us have a clue who the heck they are and how to contact them. You’re trying to establish a brand here, not join an anonymous hackers club.Reedsy: Is it useful to mix content forms and media (text, image, audio, video) or better to stick to one?Anne: It depends on you and your audience. Ruth and I are strictly old school and our audience is mostly mature adults. They prefer their information gimmick-free. No videos and very few images. Those things take a lot longer to load and we want people to be able to read our blog quickly and interact in the comments. But every blog is different. Lots of great blogs use video, podcasts, and tons of images.Reedsy: You mention in one of your posts that you believe the 500 word limit many set for their posts is archaic now. What would your recommendation be? Is it useful to mix lengths or should the reader always be able to know what to expect?Anne: I’ve seen studies that say today’s ideal blogpost is about 1200-1500 words. Our readers would be very disappointed to see a 500 word post. They expect in-depth work from us. But if you blog more often than once a week, shorter is fine.Reedsy: What should the #1 motivation be for an author to start a blog: the desire to monetise it eventually (through ads or referral programs), the intention of generating traffic to increase book sales, or just for fun?Anne: First, if you’re a new author, I don’t think monetizing a blog is a good idea. The income from affiliates and other advertising sources is going to be pennies a month. Ads annoy your readers and make you look needy.Your blog should aim to raise your online profile and be the â€Å"hub† of your online presence. Blogs aren’t that great for direct sales. What they do is help establish your platform. They make you Googleable. Having fun is a bonus.Reedsy: The #1 topic out there on authors’ blogs is writing and publishing advice. Is this still a good thing to go for or should authors start thinking about blogging on other subjects (maybe topics that are more related to their readership)?Anne: There are a lot of â€Å"how to fight writer’s block† and â€Å"prop up your book’s sagging middle† blogposts out there, so a blog t hat concentrates on writing tips is going to have a lot of competition.What you blog about can change and grow with your career. When you’re starting out, you want to network with other authors, so writing-related stuff can be useful, but later, when you want to reach fans, you’ll want to change focus. Write more about your settings and subject matter and let people know about you as a person.Reedsy: What is the best way to promote a blog? Is it fair to say guest-posting is the most effective method?Anne: Guest posting is probably the best way to get your name out there, whether you have your own blog or not. Landing a spot on a high profile blog can jumpstart a career in a major way. My blog went from about 10 hits a week to 1000 when I won a guest spot on Nathan Bransford’s blog in 2010.But it doesn’t have to be a high profile blog (blogs like ours are booked a year in advance and we only take people who already have big followings†¦although we may run a contest for a guest spot sometime this summer.)But guesting on a smaller blog run by an author who writes in the same genre can actually sell more books than getting on a blog that gets 100K hits a month like ours. One of my best sales days in my early career came when I visited a chick lit blog with only a couple of dozen followers. Nearly every reader bought my book.And the #1 way to get invited to guest blog is also the best way to get traffic to your blog: comment on other blogs. Get to know the blogging community. One comment on a blog like Nathan’s or The Passive Voice (or ours) will put your name in front of thousands of readers.Also, don’t underestimate the power of other social media. My blog took off mostly from Tweets from readers.Google Plus is also essential for bloggers, IMO, because a post that’s reposted on Google Plus will immediately get a high SERP rank.   If somebody Googles â€Å"How to Blog† I might see one of my articles on the first page of the search results. But it won’t be a link to the actual blog. It will be a link to my Google Plus page where the blog has been automatically reposted. People who click through will see my entire Google Plus profile as well as the blogpost link. Very nice for getting your name out there.Facebook is becoming less and less useful for authors (or anybody else), but we still do get about 10% of our traffic from FB shares.Reedsy: Thanks for your time, Anne!  Anne R. At present there are 1500 such Institutes. National adult Education programme was taken up in 1978. The aim was to reach 100 percent literacy (age 15-35) by the year 1990. Its basic pupose was to promote small family. As a result of announcement of national policy on Education priority is given to vocationalisation of secondary Education to make Education relevant to work. A central Institute of Education technology was set up in NCERT to purchase equipment for state Institute of Educational technology. UGC was set up in 1955 for coordination and determination of standards. UGC  has taken steps to implement the recommendations of new policy on education such as autonomous colleges,centers of advanced studies in universities, establishment of education media research center and audio visual research center for the use of media and setting up academic staff colleges for training and orientation of college teachers National program for nutritional support to primary Education was launched in 1995 under which food grains is provided to childrens in primary classes. The program assures 199 gm of grain per day for attending school for at least 80 percent of total school days in a month. A Social Worker Personal Statement Personal Development Essay My reasons for applying to the social work program offered by your University are many and varied and can be summarised as a yearning to work within public services across the United Kingdom and making a difference to the lives of the unfortunate members of our society who will at some point access social services. My desire is to be able to focus on social services and being able to link theory and practice together in the process being able to provide quality essential services for the general public at large that I will be working with. With many different inspirations, I believe I will be able to bring a very well rounded experience, thoughts and ideas to other fellow student in the program. I am interested in sharing my experiences as well as learning from the experiences of other minds alike on the social work programme. I believe with my wealth of work experience, I will be able to offer an added dimension to your student composition while gaining instruction from competent fa culty and staff. My goal in applying for the Bachelor in Social Work is not wholly vocational rather my interest focuses explicitly on the development of methodical and critical thinking skills so necessary to a commitment to a career within public services. I believe that the highly academic and interdisciplinary social work degree course very much appeal to me. I am interested not only in an in-depth study of social work but also in participation and follow-up discussion with my other fellow students thus boosting my knowledge. Based on my background of having worked within a mental health hospital as a Healthcare Assistant I believe I have the necessary foundation and clinical knowledge that will make it easy for me to adjust to the demands of the course. Ever since my childhood and as a little girl I have detected in myself a certain compassion and innate desire to help others on most occasions when presented with a situation. I was the little girl that wanted to be a leader, one emulated the way community figures such doctors, nurses and social workers managed the services available to the general public. I was also the little girl who was disgruntled when my friends either dropped out of school to look after their ailing parent or parents. I longed to make changes when the own personal friend had to be taken into foster care when there was no relative close by to look after her. At the time my understanding was very limited I however have come to realise the importance of social workers and the part they play when I finally bumped into my friend years later. As such my career within the healthcare and social services sector was shaped from an early age and I hope to continue turning that dream into a reality by becoming a social wo rker myself as soon as I graduate from this program. When I look back to my childhood, I can see and reflect that I always knew that I wanted to work in a sector where I would be able to influence and offer services that benefit the unfortunate members of our society. I also knew my parents would be pleased. My mother being a veteran educationist in a country that lacked transparency and accountability had been frustrated when trying to improve the accessibility of education to deaf children within my district. She was frustrated when budget cuts tore apart the essential things to the development of an important education system and the same funds used for things that she perceived as useless to the public at large. My motherà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s background in public service, working with deaf and dumb children has reaffirmed my position that I love working and making a difference within society at large and my ideal life is to help create social welfare systems that will make a difference to the clients who will use our services, and wh om will want to work with a Social Worker at some point in their life. In my current and previous roles within the healthcare sector I continue to gain great experience I however still feel that in order for me to think strategically and manage the services better than they are currently being done thus providing excellent care to our service users I feel that the social work degree will be able to equip me with the necessary platform, skills, expertise that will make me a good social worker for the good of the people. I want to be able to be a diversified knowledgeable social worker who is able to work in diversified roles within the healthcare or local government institutions.
